Every inquiry arrives in CRM with its source attached.
This is the load-bearing capability. If source data is not written onto the record at the moment of capture, no amount of analytics work afterward will reconstruct it, and every revenue claim downstream becomes an estimate.
Produces: Attributable CRM records
Stage: Connect
A CRM where every deal carries the campaign, page, and channel that produced it, from first touch to close.
This is the connect stage, and it is the reason the other capabilities can be measured. Attribution reporting is a read of what this layer writes. Where this layer is missing, reporting is guesswork with a chart on top.
Signals that point here.
- 01
Deal source is blank, "web", or "other".
The field exists but nothing populates it reliably, so it is filled in from memory or left empty.
- 02
Leads sit unworked for days.
Routing is manual, so response time depends on who checks an inbox. High-intent inquiries decay while they wait.
- 03
Contacts exist but deals do not.
Inquiries land as contacts with no opportunity attached, so they never enter pipeline reporting at all.
- 04
Open pipeline is obviously wrong.
Stale and duplicate records inflate the forecast. Everyone knows the number is wrong, which means no number is trusted.
What is included.
Source capture
Click and referral markers captured at the first session, persisted across the visit, and submitted with the form or order.
Deal creation
Qualifying inquiries create an opportunity, not just a contact, so they appear in pipeline from the moment they arrive.
Lead routing
Assignment by territory, product line, or channel, with notification and escalation so response time is a controlled variable.
Sales handoff
The record carries what sales needs to qualify: the page, the campaign, the form content, and the specification requested.
Pipeline hygiene
Stage definitions agreed with sales, duplicate and stale record remediation, and rules that keep the data clean after the project ends.
Platform work
Pipedrive and other common CRM platforms, integrated through supported APIs rather than brittle scraping or manual export.
What this does not cover.
- Stage definitions require a decision from sales leadership. This cannot be delegated to the integration.
- Historical records can be cleaned but not retroactively attributed where the data was never captured.
- CRM licensing and platform costs are billed by the vendor to the client.
Capabilities are scoped from assessment findings and sequenced so that measurement is unblocked first. Buying this work in isolation, ahead of the layer it depends on, is the most common way a technical marketing budget produces activity without evidence.
What this connects to.
Is this the constraint, or a symptom of one?
A Revenue System Discovery identifies where demand, digital infrastructure, CRM data, and sales reporting are disconnected, and which layer to fix first.
